How to Use Teleprompta

Master your teleprompter with this comprehensive guide

Quick Start Guide

  1. 1
    Paste Your Script

    Click in the text area at the top and paste or type your script. The section will auto-hide when you're done.

    Enable Camera (Optional)

    Click the camera button to start recording yourself. Allow browser permissions when prompted.

  3. 3
    Adjust Settings

    Set your scroll speed, text size, and other preferences using the controls at the bottom.

  4. 4
    Start Reading!

    Click the green Play button to start scrolling. Click the red Record button if you want to save your video.

Control Buttons Explained

▶️ Play/Pause

Start or stop text scrolling. Press Space bar as shortcut.

⏺️ Record

Start/stop video recording. Camera must be enabled first.

⏹️ Reset

Go back to beginning. Stops recording if active. Press R key.

📹 Camera

Toggle camera on/off. Video preview can be hidden during recording.

✏️ Edit Script

Open full editor with text color options and statistics.

⚙️ Settings

Access all app settings including camera layout and fonts.

🔄 Reverse

Scroll backwards instead of forwards.

⇄ Mirror

Flip text horizontally (for mirror setups).

Settings & Customization

Speed & Text

• Scroll Speed: Adjust how fast text scrolls (10-100). Use arrow keys Up/Down for quick changes.

• Text Size: Change font size (28-72px) for better readability.

• Font Family: Choose from 8 professional fonts in Settings.

• Text Color: Pick from 8 colors in Edit Script modal.

Camera Options

• Camera Layout: Choose Corner Preview (small box) or Full Background (fills screen).

• Mirror Camera: Flip camera horizontally if your webcam shows you inverted.

• Toggle Visibility: Hide/show camera during recording without stopping.

Display Settings

• Background Color: Choose from 3 background colors.

• Ready Timer: Set countdown before scrolling starts (0-10 seconds).

💡 Pro Tip: Use Full Background mode with white text for professional-looking videos where you're reading directly to camera!

Recording Your Video

Setup

    Click Camera button and allow browser permissions

    Select your camera and microphone from the device list

    Choose camera layout in Settings (corner or background)

    Adjust lighting and position yourself in frame

Recording Process

1. Click the red Record button to start recording

2. Click the green Play button to start text scrolling

3. Read your script naturally

4. Click Record button again to stop

5. Video downloads automatically to your Downloads folder!

💡 Pro Tip: Do a 5-second test recording first to check lighting, audio, and scroll speed before recording your full script!

Troubleshooting

Camera Not Working?

• Check browser permissions in settings

• Close other apps using your camera

• Try refreshing the page

• Use Chrome or Edge for best compatibility

Recording Not Starting?

• Make sure camera is enabled first

• Open browser console (F12) to check for errors

• Try a different browser

Script Not Updating?

• Changes should apply immediately without refresh

• If not working, try hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R)

• Clear browser cache and reload
